Where in the bible does the idea that "christ took on sin," and likewise that God "turned his face," originate?

It is obvious that the bible talks about christ defeating death, which is the result of sin because the bible speaks plainly of Jesus' resurrection. However, is there any biblical evidence for the ultimate destruction of sin taking place on the cross?
